We had a pleasant dinner at Asian Chef with our family. We had noticed this restaurant often and were happy that we decided to give it a try. We visited on a weekday night, so it was quite peaceful. The waitresses were attentive and friendly, and it was nice to see them smile, which made a difference in our dining experience at this Chinese restaurant. However, it was a bit awkward when the waitresses lingered around without much to do. The food was delicious and unique compared to the usual Cantonese cuisine in the Camberwell area. Both my family and I enjoyed every dish, especially the ones from the Chef's recommended menu. The highlight was the free-range chicken and the combo stir-fried dish. We plan on returning to try other dishes and also the hot pot in the future.
I keep finding myself drawn back to this restaurant with its truly authentic cuisine that stands out from the mainstream. The service is quick and polite, and the decor is lovely. However, there seems to be a lack of consistency. While some dishes on the menu are exceptional and bring joy, others miss the mark so much that you might as well go to a fast food chain. It's possible that there are two chefs working there, but it's still worth a visit.
I found Asian Chef to be a rather well lit and spacious restaurant that allowed us to enjoy our meals in a pleasant and inviting atmosphere. As we came on a weekday, it was predictably a lot more quieter in the restaurant, so we were able to ask to dine in their private dining open rooms- which provided for a much more intimate and cozy feel. We couldn’t be more happier with the quantity of each dish, the price was definitely justified for those large portions. The Kong Po Chicken was very tasty and well marinated. However I did feel that it was lacking in colour, and vegetables. On the contrary, their tofu dish with scallops, prawns and snow peas was delightful! An overall warm and comforting dish that went very well with the rice. Also note that Asian Chef has a weekly specials menu that offers certain dishes on specific days of the week. It’s worth having a look at, as they offer some fantastic dishes there too!
Got there with some friends last Wednesday, getting the hot pot for dinner. The price was ok according to the amount of their dishes. It was pretty enjoyable to had dinner there. The dining environment was quite comfortable. Gonna go there again
