Have you ever tried huckleberry lemonade? What a delicious treat! I really splurged for breakfast last time and got the black bear breakfast stacker which is basically a chicken fried biscuit sandwich with the works (scrambled eggs, potatoes and gravy). It was too much to eat but still good. The only problem was the food wasn't served hot at all, just barely warm. They were very busy, so I will try them again another time.
This is a casual and relaxed place to bring your whole family. The portions are very generous and the food has a home made taste to it. They have plenty of servers so the dining pace is just right. Breakfast here is by far the best around.
My family really likes this place. It has a menu that everyone can enjoy. I like it best for breakfast. The waffles are crispy and much better than homemade. The wait staff is so good about refills, you don't even have to ask.... Nothing can beat their old-fashioned milkshakes either. A
The concept behind the Black Bear Diner chain is interesting. They started out in Mt. Shasta, CA and are branching out to smaller towns all over the west coast. Customer service and large portions in a clean atmosphere are their main goals. We ate there for lunch and then breakfast. The service was good and the staff friendly. The portions were huge too big for my elderly mother who doesn't like to waste or see food wasted (Great Depression you know). My Ruben for lunch was good and the salad was crisp. My son liked his burger and couldn't finish the fries. His milkshake was made with real ice cream. It was a good value overall. It struck me as a relief after walking out of the Rooster. I would eat here again.
