Mechelse Mangerie - Mechelen

Our appetizer, which was a dish with cheese and shrimp, was underwhelming as it arrived lukewarm. For our main course, there were mostly seafood options on the menu, with only one steak dish available. I ordered pasta with a white fish and spicy tomato sauce, but was disappointed with the overcooked pasta and tough pieces of fish. It seems that the restaurant's mussels are a popular choice, but we decided to pass on trying them.

On Saturday 4/02.06, we were hoping for a nice and cozy table at the restaurant, but were disappointed. We had made a reservation for two people in the non-smoking section, but were seated in the back area which seemed to have been designated as non-smoking that night due to a specific request. Unfortunately, the back area also served as the entrance to the kitchen and toilets, with a clutter of children's seats, coats, dishes, and tablecloths. While we were not bothered by smoke from other patrons, we were uncomfortable with the setup. Our dish, which featured cheese and shrimp, was underwhelming in taste and presentation. The menu mainly offered seafood with only one steak option for meat lovers. I opted for pasta with lobster and a spicy tomato sauce, but found the pasta overcooked and the fish lacking in flavor. Although their mussels are said to be a standout dish, we decided to pass on it.

On Saturday we thought we'd have a nice and cozy table in the mechel mangery, but this became a reasonable disappointment. We reserved for people at the non-smokers. And we ended up in the back part, which I think they bombed that night to non-smokers room because there was a reservation with that explicit question. The back but also unscathed part is actually the passage to the kitchen and the toilets, but also a pile of children's seats, coats, angle, china and tablecloths. Agreed, we weren't disturbed by the cigarette smoke from other clients. We were also mother-chaired alone in that one part, really uncomfortable the dish fell with cheese and shrimp crops homemade, but if anything warmer. Excellent mussels on many different points: Even with blue-edged cheese and bacon. Very limited wine card. Good price quality and certainly a recommender for the mussel lover.
