Fortune Buffet - Mechanicstown

Disappointed by the food confronted by the wait staff. The food is meh it seems like the quality has slipped. There are many things to chose from including quite a bit of seafood nice. Some of the food items were almost stone cold instead of steaming hot. I didn't have a thermometer to check... You pay on the way in standing. You serve yourself. Dirty plates were stacked all over the table and the drinks at my table were only refilled once during the visit LONG after they were empty. I did not add a tip and do not tip when I pay before receiving service. I received very little service and what I received was poor. Then I get accosted on the way out the door!? Nope not worth a return trip. Also, don't have multiple 5 gal. buckets with grey water filled almost to the rim with dirty dishes and floating chunks in the dinning room super gross.

I can only say, disgusting! We arrived, at 7 PM, Sunday, June, 16. Driving home from LEGOLAND. We had 9 adults, and 4 children. With the buffet, we ordered 2 sodas, and 3 hot tea, the rest opted for water, which tasted horrible, we were charged 20.00, for the 2 sodas, and 1 teapot, with 3 cups! The food was cold, and nasty, some looked so old. I kept tasting soap, like the dish detergent, was not rinsed off, from anything, cups, plates, utensils. Multiple times, I watched, my Family, actually spit the food out, in napkins. While I was walking, to the Buffett, I saw, dirty disgusting buckets, full of dirty stagnant water. The health department, definitely should be called. Then, after we sat, the entire time, with plates piling up, with no one coming to clear the table, or offer more drinks or water, I was followed around, being told, tip is not included in the price. Why would I tip, we sat at a dirty table, with dirty plates, the whole time we were there. It was quite awkward, and definitely unwarranted. The lady at the front reception, needs lessons in how to act human, not nasty and rude, to paying customers. Let’s talk about the bathrooms! The men’s rooms had no lighting, the floors were sticky, pee and poop, all over the walls, like they never clean, so gross, no soap, you FELT dirty, just being in the restrooms. The woman’s room floors, were covered in pee, it was totally unacceptable. Always know, you can tell how clean the kitchen is, by looking into the bathroom. I will never go back. We paid 260.00, and are actually hoping NOT to get sick, on the way home, stay away!

6/14/24 Had a poor experience at this place back in March, when we were followed to the door by a waitress demanding a tip, after one was left on the card when we paid as soon as we got there. Again, tonight, we were followed to the door and advised that “tip is not included in the cost of the meal”, after we had left cash on the table. I told the waitress there was a tip on the table, and immediately her demeanor changed. I think it’s a little ridiculous that people are being hounded at the door for tips, and had hoped in the months that we hadn’t gone that this behavior would have changed, but obviously it hasn’t. Will not be coming back. Very sad the only buffet in Middletown has gone so downhill. Been coming since I was a child. Old owner, and staff, were so much nicer, and accommodating. I cannot imagine eating at any other establishment and being chased out the door for a tip. Especially without actually looking at the table, in this case, and seeing the cash already there.

Just left 10min ago after paying close to 40$ for a below average meal the waitress that wasn’t even doing her job had the audacity to chase us down for a tip not worth eating here at all if I can give 0 stars I would save your money

I just left with my son about 20 mins ago was stopped at the door by server saying that buffet doesn't include tip and that I needed to give her a tip that I couldn't leave without tipping her. I was like are you serious, she only brought over our sodas and collected our plates once and that's it.. if that's the case don't have your customers pay before hand and wait till customers are done eating to charge them, that way a tip can be included in the bill.. they are very unprofessional the way they run after customers and make a huge scene for a tip and the owner was there and didn't say anything about it either. I will NEVER go there again and will make sure to contact the proper authorities to find out if it's legal for them to be going after customers and stopping them from leaving the establishment because they weren't tipped..
