The General Wine Bar & Kitchen

Our second visit to Christmas in July was to enjoy Vikki's sensational cuisine. On both occasions, we tried the roast of the day from the set menu available online, along with pudding. The roasts were served with a generous portion of around a dozen vegetables, along with extras like spices and gravy to complement the meat. We enjoyed the chicken and turkey roasts, along with apple crumb and Christmas pudding or sticky date for dessert. It's hard to find a better roast in South Australia. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, excellent service, ample parking, and is located in a beautiful hamlet. The General Books tend to sell out quickly, so it's best to make a reservation. Vikki changes up the menu regularly to showcase her culinary skills. Overall, it's a must-visit spot with an incredible bar and the best English 80s soundtrack.

I brought my family to the General Wine Bar for a wine tasting and roast dinner, and oh my goodness, it was the best ever. The wines were absolutely stunning, and I don't typically drink wine, but they were so good that we ended up buying two bottles to take home. The roast dinner was also amazing - it was plentiful and delicious, ensuring we would never go hungry at the General. It was one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. Roast and Red provided us with the best Brat dinner we've had since moving to Australia. The meal included a generous portion of Bratbeef, accompanied by potatoes, carrots, peas, pumpkin, red cabbage, delicate cauliflower cheese, and 2 Yorkshire puddings, all served with a delicious local red wine. The service was exceptional, with plates only being cleared once everyone had finished their meal. A big thank you to Vicki and the team - we will definitely be returning soon.

Wash the Christmas toad with all the trims followed by Vik's Special Xmas pudding with a beautiful glass of red. It was excellent with plenty to eat, the staff was friendly and helpful. The General Win Bar is definitely worth a visit as you are not disappointed.

I was lucky enough to have a fabulous Roast a Red on Sunday. My partner and parents had delicious Roast Pork with all the trimmings especially the cracking Crackling. The duck fat roasties were to die for. Viks apple crumble, with proper custard (not out of a carton) was a fond taste memory of Gramdma’s classic. The service was fantastic, attentive and also informative about the very drinkable Zontes wine We will be back
