Dickey's Barbecue Pit - McKinney

I've been enjoying Dickey's BBQ for more than 25 years. A group of us used to have lunch there regularly before I retired. I really love their sauce and my favorite dishes are the turkey and hot links. I always treated myself to a cone of soft serve vanilla at the end of my meal. These days, I prefer to go through the drive-thru and take it home with me.

I ordered a small sandwich that honestly seems more suitable for the kids' menu, especially at $8. Wow! They also forgot to include the chives or green onions I requested.

Their barbecue is decent, but I still view them more as a fast-food BBQ spot, similar to how I would think of McDonald's or Whataburger for burgers. Recently, their prices have started to become quite outrageous.

I come a few times a month for lunch. I’ve never had a bad meal or service. The food has always been at the right temperature (hate cold food that should be hot) and been full of flavor. The service is prompt so there’s no waiting. They’ve got ample inside seating and a nice view along with a few TVs to chill out afterwards. Plenty of unsweetened and sweet tea! Don’t know what to get? I struggle sometimes too. Try the chicken and beef (westerner) on a long bun. Coleslaw and jalapeño beans are sure to please. Restrooms are clean! Hope you enjoy as much we I do.

The food at this location was so fresh and delicious. I had a Turkey plate with dill potato salad and macaroni and cheese. The staff was friendly and obviously took a lot of pride in their restaurant. I definitely recommend you stop by for a visit to this location.
