Lotus Inn - McAllen

Please come back!!! My family misses your yummy food! Great food and great service. I truly miss this place. I hope it reopens soon.

I am not exaggerating when i say this is my favorite restaurant. i am now 24 and had been going to this restaurant for as long as i can remember, and my parents had been going to it long before i was even born. for a long time this was the only chinese restaurant in mcallen and a lot of my family's first time ever having chinese food was here (if i remember correctly, it's taiwanese). i have literally traveled all over the world and cannot find a place that tastes exactly like lotus inn. those who have been coming here for years know for a fact that the same family has been running this place since the 80s and you can really tell it has that home-made, grandparent-made flavor. their chicken and cabbage soup is the most comforting soup and i miss it so much. i always get their chicken chow mein and it's really hard to find that exact flavor anywhere. the closest i got was a random taiwanese restaurant in london. there is literally no other place like this for me and my family! i hope they re-open soon and that it has the same flavor! thank you for bringing chinese food to south texas out of all places! 太感谢了！我希望我再次可以吃你们的菜。

I ordered the special for the day, sweet and sour chicken. My wife ordered her meal of beef and mushrooms, and both came with soup. The soup, was flavorless. Then I got my meal, and the chicken was over fried and tasteless, and the rice was dry. I didn't even bother to try the egg roll. I left shortly after taking a few bites of my meal. Afterwards my wife and I both experienced intestinal discomfort after eating here. I will not eat here again, and I advise you do not either.

Always love eating there the food is delicious but this appetizer was supposedly to be calamari but sadly it looks like they gave me scraps of leftovers and none of them has squid besides a lot of breading. honestly that was 11$ down the drain
