Los Tejabanes - Mazatlán

Now called la casa azul. Roman is still there. Good food and cold beer. The best is the tuna sandwich.

Breakfast served all day, or stop in for lunch or dinner. Great service and food. I enjoy the outdoor seating to start my morning.

Picked up breakfast to go, it was quick and it was good and the service was polite and friendly, would go here again.

First the bad news; Arre Lulu, Mazatlan is no more. We always enjoyed Arre Lulu's in previous trips to Mazatlan so we headed over there to have breakfast a few days ago. We were sad to find out the Arre Lulu's Mazatlan closed about one...year ago. Now for the great news; Los Tejabanes (The Tile Roof) Restaurante has moved from its location at the main pool at Hotel Playa Mazatlan to the old Arre Lulu location, next to the Shrimp Factory, Avenue de las Garzas A, just around the corner from where they were located for years. Patricia, Miguel and the irrepressible Roman are there waiting to serve you the same superb food they offered at the poolside location. Isabel and Guille are the chefs. The atmosphere is light and comfortable to match the offerings on the menu. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day. We were looking for breakfast but ended up ordering lunch. My wife ordered the Tacos Gobernador that is served with rice and salad. Roman was more than happy to substitute fresh cut country potatoes for the rice. When I say fresh, I mean they cut them and cooked them with fresh onions to order. Her tacos were nothing short of wonderful. No chopped shrimp mixed with stuff here, whole fresh shrimp with excellent spices and fresh tasty salsa. She washed it down with a Lime celery carrot smoothie that was the best we have had by far in Mazatlan on this trip. I ordered the Shrimp Burger I am not a big sandwich fan but this was absolutely outstanding. Large, whole fresh shrimp with lettuce, onion and tomato and a delicate sauce that did not over power the shrimp. I substituted fresh cut and baked potato chips for the fries. Again, I am not a huge fan of chips but these are noteworthy. I washed it all down with a very good **** mary. The meal was flawless. The hospitality and service were excellent and entertaining. The menu has everything from hot cakes to omelettes to traditional Mexican breakfasts and similar diversity for lunch and dinner. All it at very reasonable prices in the Golden Zone. We are planning at least one return visit before we leave.
