La Brochetas has been one of our favorites for many years. I have taken larger groups there for celebrations, but yesterday was for the two us with two great bottles of wine. When we made reservations with Martha she never addresses this major change ..no more bring any alcohol for your meal. We sat two bottles of Two Vines wine on the table and were informed that we could no longer bring it due to police crack down. I saw at least tables that had the same response. In one case the guy went across the street to Soriano to get some wine just to be told no when he came back. Eating a fantastic molcajete with water, juice or soda is just not the same. It is sad that Las Brochetas does not let people know about this when they accept reservations. I imagine this deception is to try to keep people coming in, especially those that may only come once during or week trip to Mazatlán.
This place is always busy and has constantly good food. Service is great and it is so relaxing even though you are on the main drag. Their steaks are good and the Molcajete Mexicano Dinner in a volcanic rock bowl overflowing with seasoned grilled steak,...chicken, shrimp, chiles is great.
Years ago, this was THE place to go. Our last several visits have shown a definite deterioration in food quality, and service. Previous postings about server's indifference are correct. I guess that's the industry cycle. Sad.
Our car was not ready next door so we stopped for dinner. They do not serve alcohol so I went across the street to the new Soriana and brought back beer. The waiter offered to put it in the fridge to keepit cool. My wife had fish and I had an excellent brocheta of beef.
