We were here last year and enjoyed the place. we went to lunch today and had an excellent meal served by a very friendly waiter. the background music was very relaxing, not the usual volume of other bars. the view of the sea. for a quiet visit. good prices too.
My wife ordered tuna tacos. she said they're the best they ever cost. for me I ordered mar y tierra, a rindburger with big sharps on the top, simply brilliant. they bring chips and species of salsa a pure creamy color red cabbage, meerrettich, mayo and acid cream excellent)
Our taxi driver asked us to take us to a fish restaurant he liked, and he dropped us here. modestly they are in front of the door, they need to go down a lane to the restaurant. we arrived at a full-time evening tournament where both men and women compete. the location is directly on the beach and was full of customers. beer was cold, and I found my aguachiles after the waiter asked me twice if that was what I wanted to order ( apparently he felt that they were not too hot). service was good, eating was good, price was average. beautiful place to come a dae of the feet.
It is difficult to compare fish, food and drink at the area restaurants. Menus are very similar, food is almost always good and rately memorable. Barra al Mar is gringoized naturally with its location in the heart of the Golden Zone. Bread not tortillas, mild...spice. Prices are average for here, high for the town in general. The main thing the restaurant has going for it is a nice quiet location off the street, set back with a view of the beach. Music is casual and thank goodness there was no mariachi, though I heard it at a distance. As good a place to hang out as any other. BTW, the vegetables were perfectly al dente, a good sign. Service fine.
