The New Maspeth Diner

Food was not all that for the expensive price. 2 Burgers n fries and 2 sandwiches, 2 juice and two shakes $88 plus tip...strawberry shake seemed to be syrup and the vanilla one tasted like a protein shake. Both watery and powdery. Was nice being with the family but I will not ever return.

Full disclosure, my family is one of the regulars and we get treated like royalty. I am shocked by all these negative reviews. I can understand delivery might not be the same quality as in the restaurant, but during COVID I was so appreciative they were still doing deliveries. In person, this is a simple place run by a really nice, REALLY hard-working family. I have ordered food catered for family parties and it was always a success. Steven does have a serious demeanor at first but he takes a lot of pride in running the place. I hope more people will give it a chance. It is not fancy like Good Eats down the block. It is also not loud, chaotic and with a half hour wait on weekends. Not trying to knock Good Eats, they have great food, but if you like to enjoy your meal in a quieter ambiance, then City Diner is awesome. I almost always get the vegetable quesadilla, which isn 't even on the menu, but they accommodate me. When I 'm really hungry, my favorite is the filet of sole francese. The rice melts in your mouth. The onion rings we fight over. My mother and son love the pasta bolognese, which for Italians, it 's strange to order Italian from a diner, but it 's delicious. The sangria is good and strong. Full selection of authentic Mexican food. I 'm so happy I can dine inside again, this was the place I missed the most.

Can't personally speak for the food, but 5 Stars to City Diner for making my elderly relative happy on Thanksgiving in the middle of a pandemic. I ordered her a meal for delivery and she was absolutely thrilled with it. Her building can be a little complicated to get in to, and as she is elderly can't move too quickly, but the delivery person got it to her door and she loved it. Thank you so much City Diner!

Pancakes were stale and unappetizing. I’ve seen my 12 year old cousin make better ones than what I have been served today. Visual appeal of the food was not great. Who puts scrambled eggs on top of pancakes and ham below the pancakes?! Disappointed that this place can’t get the basics right.

Very nasty on the phone. all i asked was how late they served, and the answer was ,if i came in at 7:30 pm ,i was going to get food but he was going home at 8pm and closing at that time, so i guess i would have to gulp the food. maybe is good for breakfast and lunch , but not so for dinner, and a change of attitude on the phone would be nice
