Underwhelmed, I had high expectations and made reservations for our Anniversay dinner. My husband had the surf &Turf which was $65. The steak was a 6 oz filet and was okay, the lobster under cooked and cold. I had the seafood power bowl which I enjoyed. The portions were extremely small and lacked flavor. We left hungry after a $200 tab. I feel like even adding a baked potato to the surf and turf would have made it seem a little less disappointing when the dish was brought to the table. Even the server look embarrassed when he delivered the dishes. We felt like we could have went a lot of other restaurants and had a better meal for what we paid.
The Walnut Kitchen is the best place in Maryville for a great steak. It's not cheap, but the food is excellent.
We passed by the Walnut Kitchen several times before we finally decided to check it out. Access is difficult due to its location, and parking is limited. My wife ordered a loaded baked potato for $8.00 while I ordered the Company Burbon Pork Tenderloin for $45.00. My order came on a bed of mashed potatoes with a layer of grilled squash. The tenderloin was suplimented with chutney, which added a layer of flavor that complimented the tenderloin. We followed the meal with a Cream Brule for $14.00. We were disappointed with the Cream Brule as the caramelized topping was overcooked to the point of being too hard to spoon together with the cream. It was a very hard caramelization. While I enjoyed my main course, I found The Walnut Kitchen to be overpriced for what you received. Parking: Traffic makes the location herd to get in and our of during early dining hours.
This place is amazing! If you haven’t been here, they have the best chef in Knoxville! The meat is farm to table and after traveling the world and eating all over, I can say that Chef Jason and the service (Tina) at Walnut Kitchen are the best I’ve expwriencex. You definitely want to check this place out!
