Mei Nung Beef Noodle House - Markham

A place for authentic and tasty Taiwanese Casual (street) food. Remember the holiday in Taiwan, especially her stinking tofu. No easy item to find here in Canada. I'm sure we'll go back when we have vacations in Toronto in the future. Price... and portion is good. Very recommended.

My friend in Taiwan told me online today how the Taiwanese cattle soup was one of the traditional foods, so I had to try it for myself. Found Mei Nung Beef Noodle House on Tripadvisor, not far from my place. I went there at 1:30 and thought I'd miss the lunchtime. The place was packed with the exception of a small table. Service was good, restaurant clean. Immediately served tea and soup came shortly after. My friend was right, it was very tasty beef soup. Appropriate price for the amount of soup. I will definitely return and look forward to tasting other dishes.

If you want a taste of Taiwanese food, this is the place to go. They serve authentic stinky tofu, which is a typical Taiwan dish. Don't let the stinking description scare you. It only fried tofu with an aromatic fermented odor. Usually...served with pickled cabbage (not kimchi). With a bowl when beef soup and you are good.

The beef noodles at this restaurant were fantastic! All five of us ordered a bowl and we all loved it. The noodles were freshly made and the broth and beef, including the tendons, were incredibly tender and flavorful. At $10 a bowl, it was worth every penny. My Taiwanese wife, who is very picky about her food, even tried the Stinky Tofu and while she compared it to what she had in Taipei, she still thought it was good - unlike our children, who didn't care for it. The restaurant is small, seating no more than 30 people, but it was packed when we were there. The service was excellent and if you're looking for a quick meal, this is a great spot to visit.
