One of the best place to eat in Marietta, OH. As far as I know this is the best option for high end dinning in Marietta. The staff was friendly and efficient. Not quite at the level you might expect for high end dinning, but I'm not sure they have had a good example of what that would look like. They get the job done and are great for the most part.I've not had a bad experience with any of my food choices here.I'd like there to be more parking, but I don't know if there is a way to improve or increase their parking. The tables are kind of jammed into a room and some of them really aren't set up for having a fine dining experience. it does kind of ruin the experience if you get one of the jammed in tables and have to squeeze between the table and a wall, no matter your body shape/size.
Very charming set-up, very friendly staff, and the food was incredible. Highly recommend!!
I visited this restaurant with a tour group on Tuesday, July 13th, 2021. Our group of approximately 50 was seated at an outside terrace…some in blazing sunlight and some crammed next to a noisy air conditioning fan. While the food was delicious, there was only one server so it took over an hour to serve us all. While organized well in advance, it was poorly planned.
We were looking for something other than bar food or sandwiches so opted for a place with tablecloths and napkins. The restaurant is located in a large stately home a few blocks from downtown and an easy walk from our hotel on the riverfront. We arrived around 6:00 and the restaurant was empty except for another couple and a group of 4 women. We were seated in a cozy little nook in the corner where we perused the menu. They offered a mango mimosa so ordered that only to have the waitress return within a few minutes saying that they were out of mango would orange juice be okay. I agreed only to receive something that tasted and looked more like lemonade than orange juice but it tasted fine so I let it slide. My husband ordered the crab cake appetizer which was a bit salty which would indicate that the chef was a little over-zealous with the Old Bay Seasoning. We wanted to order the halibut for our main courses but were informed that they were out of halibut. I opted for the red snapper which unfortunately was dry and overcooked which was a shame because if had been a nice piece of fish. My husband selected the steak which came with a delightful horseradish sauce but the meat itself was fatty and of a lesser quality than you would expect for $30. The potatoes were more of a puree than mashed and were very starchy and gray colored almost as if they were holdovers from the previous day. The bread that was served was tough and would have been better if they had stuck it in the oven for a few minutes to crisp it up. It was humid so I know keeping bread fresh can be a challenge but other restaurants seem to be able to do it. The service was excellent, and they have all the ambiance of nice dining in place. They just need to focus on the quality of their dishes. Perhaps we just hit them on an off night.
