La Casita - Marco Island

The Mexican food here is very good, but the reason to go is to listen to Larry D sing. Call ahead to find out when he is performing there and be sure to go then. I know you’ll like it. Oh, and the food is very good too. They make their own beans, etc. The food is MUCH better than the other Mexican restaurant on the island (Nacho Mama’s). And free chips salsa, unlike the other Mexican restaurant. Good ambiance too. Very fast service if you want that. We usually ask to place our order after our first drink so we can linger longer.

Okay, so it’s in a strip mall, but honestly, many of the really good mexican places are these days. We found the place through an online review and I was hugely skeptical about the praise on the ribs. What mexican place serves ribs? This one, and they’re not you’re typical ribs. No bbq sauce, just this rich, dark, sweet and savory sauce with fall off the bone juiciness. I got a 1/2 rack and after the first bite regretted not getting a full. Even the tortilla chips were homemade and the best I’ve ever tasted. Great guacamole too. Hubby had a traditional mexican meal, and his was great too. Then, because they were on the menu, he ordered the sopapillas. To die for. Even the light topping of whipped cream was freshly made.
