Borgo Del Poggio - MARCIANA

We walked and visited the quaint village noting that it is suggestive but rather grounded and dirty. Many houses for sale.

I accidentally entered this store that offers typical products of the island of Elba. The appearance is appealing and the kind owner and willing to chat. However it is soon understood that what you want to sell is only the image of Elba, as much as most of the goods, although branded Borgo del Poggio , are actually produced out of the Elba, which has informed us of the same owner. I finally got tempted and bought a pack of chestnut pappardelle. The unpleasant surprise came immediately to the cashier, when for a package of 500 g pasta, I had to pay well 6 €. I said, let's hope they're good. And instead, when I cooked them, the disappointment was even worse. An absolutely ordinary pasta! the color of the chestnuts there was, but on the amount of chestnut flour declared (14% I allow myself to have some doubt. Anyway, eating it with closed eyes, I couldn't feel any difference in taste compared to any pasta. I want to point out that I tried both with a tasty sauce and directly with oil and cheese...

Very nice village between the green of Monte Capanne with beautiful view on the northern part of the island of Elba and on Marciana and Marciana marina. Full of good restaurants. To see maybe in a rainy day when you can't go to the beach.

In the centre of a splendid village of Marciana, this terrace overlooking the green and overlooking Marciana Marina. A pleasant environment with attentive and correct service. Aperitif in the afternoon is an experience not to be missed. Very favorable price.

As every year a jump to the Borgo del Poggio I do it willingly, usual purchase of introvabile pears where I live. Also worth mentioning mustards for cheese. The choice is wide. There are also other types of pasta that can be found in specialized shops of big cities. Comfortable parking, except in the evening.
