The pasta is from this world.... homemade genuine classic pasta place: the sorrentinos are absolutely outstanding. It is very popular with locals, the atmosphere is like an old fashion Trattoria from Amalfi. It is very popular with locals and tourists. I would very much welcome this restaurant.
We were looking for an Italian restaurant for dinner last night and based on Trip Advisor reviews, decided to go to the Trattoria Napolitana Vespoli. We came after 8PM, but there was only one more couple in the restaurant that was filled by...9PM. Like some of the other critics, the only English-speaking people were in the restaurant. We had a little problem ordering, but we did. The food was very good and the portions were great. If we knew how big the portions were, we would have ordered only one meal. From respect for the cook, I felt that I had to eat all my meal, but there was only too much food: . My wife, the more sensible, ate only about half of her dinner. The service was okay if it had been more attentive, I would have given the restaurant five stars. Besides the very good food it was not expensive and it would have cost less if we were to spit a part that we could have done! Our hotel is located near the Plaza de las Americas and it was a bit walking to the restaurant but it was nice to go through the streets. I was especially happy for the way back, because I was overeating! FYI, on the invoice there was a 25 Peso fee per person for cubierto . We saw it up and cubierto means cover fee. We didn't see it mentioned on the menu, but I'm sure it was there! It wasn't a lot of money, but I'll say if you leave and question the charges. p.s. I had in the Polo a la portugese and recommend it!
This restaurant is worth the trip to Mar del Plata. The service is excellent, atmosphere is like a Naples Trattoria and the Sorrentinos are absolutely excellent. It is very popular with locals and many Argentine tourists. We were the only English speakers on... the night and the owner came and had a chat with us and made excellent recommendations. We had an eggplant that was delicious and then had a mixture of sorrentinos. We stayed in Mar del Plata for the Rugby Seven and it turned out that the owner was involved in Rugby in Mar del Plata, so we enjoyed a chat about the local Rugby scene. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We came in without a booking, but to make sure.
What a great find this is..... it is a local place been there like 43 years and you could walk or drive by and not even see it.... but wow... the pasta is out of this world.... looks like everything is amazing homemade real classic...pasta place.... i will return...often!! gets very crowded... they do take reservations and they are open for lunch and dinner ....
