Contribuiți la feedbackNice little spot with cheery colors, good food and friendly owners on a hidden square in Mantua. We ate here on our first night in Mantua on the recommendation of our hosts and ended up going back on our last night since we enjoyed it so much. The food is fairly traditional Mantuan with a few tweaks which include vegetarian options which were appreciated by my wife who is vegetarian. The owner's wine recommendations were excellent and it was great that the options were all very local.
I have been to this restaurant twice. The menu looks good, but I feel something is missing with the flavors and total quality of the dishes: they are ok, but don't wow. This time, the pork roast was very salty, and the swordfish slightly overcooked. Pity, because the menu has interesting ideas.
Situated in a quiet courtyard off the main drag, Giallozucca offers a bit more choice for the non-meat-eater. I had pike in salsa, my partner has a rocket risotto with a burratta mousse. They also brought us a small complimentary starter of pretzel shaped bread sticks with a cold tomato salsa. We had a chocolate mousse for dessert and we each had a glass of red wine and a bottle of sparkling water between us. It came to 45 euros. Service was friendly, bread was fresh.
I found myself very well, the place is quiet and welcoming, the staff and friendly, at hand and competent, we spent a nice evening in general. I only have some regrets about food, I found pumpkin pies too sweet, the dessert was spectacular. Council
We happened here by chance (also because in Mantua restaurants have strange closures) and was a wonderful surprise! The owner is of a unique sympathy and kindness!!! On the other hand, to do this job or you have a vocation or better to let it go! A menu mainly typical, but especially at the reach of people who have problems with gluten like me!! We ate two first, a typical mantovano risotto, delicious, and pumpkin tortelli with equally excellent sausage! Giardiniera as a contour and to finish two typical and gluten-free desserts: sbrisolona and Belgian pudding: a really fabulous!! All accompanied by wine glasses equally excellent and recommended by the owner. What to say, fabulous service, exquisite food, lovely location and attention to detail! You have to go.
