Full Moon Cafe - Manteo

We had a party of nine tonight and enjoyed the lump crab Alfredo, shrimp and grits, and chicken quesadillas. Everything was superb! They also have an excellent selection of NC and VA microbrews. I really like this restaurant!

The unique coasters that once decorated the bar are gone, and my crab cake sandwich was a letdown—very loose and messy, falling apart before I could even take a bite. My wife’s bratwurst was lacking in toppings, and the mustard on the table was bland, hardly more flavorful than the bun. While my beer was tasty, it just highlighted the shortcomings of the food and left me wishing they had paid more attention to the overall experience. As much as I want to recommend this place, I can't do so with a clear conscience right now. I genuinely hope things improve by the time we return.

This restaurant was amazing! I visited for an early dinner with my family, and it was bustling with people. The food was absolutely delicious—I ordered the shrimp and grits, and it was fantastic. My mom had the crab cakes, which were also excellent. They also had a wonderful selection of local beers; I tried the Manteo Porter, and I give it two thumbs up!

My food was awful. I was expecting to provide at least a good rating based on the exposure of the restaurant. Our waitress didn't ask why so much food was left on the plate, 75% returned. Wanted us to move on. Unfortunate as we live in the area most of the year.

On a weekend trip to Manteo for a work meeting, I sought out a place for a decent beer and meal and landed at Full Moon/Lost Colony. It was a busy first Friday for the off season, with a special event across the street that brought in a good crowd, but Full Moon was woefully understaffed. After waiting for the better part of five minutes for any assistance finding a table, I was finally seated. My beer and food arrived quickly, but everything else was slow. Another nearby table even received their check before me--and that was AFTER I had asked the server for it! Slower service on a busy night is understandable, but Full Moon was clearly unprepared when they could and should have been. The beer was pretty good--not the best I've had, but a good selection for the area. Prices were in line with vacation/resort areas, and the flavors were pretty good. For food, I ordered the fried shrimp, which were themselves pretty tasty, but the fries with them were not. And dessert--chocolate cake--was great. So, a ratings breakdown: Beer: 4 Food: 3 Service: 1.5 In this case, I must round down.
