We Love Tacos And Tequila - Manly

We kicked off our evening with a glass of crisp white wine and a Paloma cocktail. Who said tequila has to be boring? This cocktail was exactly what we were looking for: slightly bitter with a zesty flavor, it was cool and refreshing on a summer evening. But there’s no reason to linger only on cocktails and imported beers if you're in the mood for something special. We were particularly intrigued by their soda mixes, featuring delightful combinations like mint, lime, and agave. Moving on to the food, we started with two tacos, each about 15 cm in diameter, which we devoured almost instantly. One taco was filled with juicy grilled chorizo, while the other was a light and refreshing battered fish fillet with salsa—simply delicious. If tacos aren’t your thing, I highly recommend the BBQ ribs starter, which, while not loaded with salads or veggies, turned out to be finger-licking good. With our appetites still not fully satisfied, we then turned to the highlight of our evening: four small taco plates, each topped with fresh tomato salsa and two lime-pickled prawns. It was everything we had hoped for that night. Equally impressive, but in a different style, were the albondigas, or meatballs. We're used to the Continental Spanish version, which features Moorish cumin and a distinct tomato sauce. However, the albondigas at Tacos Tequila have a beautifully rustic quality. Served in two large hard taco shells, they are slow-cooked with potatoes and other vegetables, making them perfect for a cozy winter night. While the other dishes encouraged sharing, this one clearly felt like a personal serving. Overall, we had a fantastic night at Tacos Tequila. My only suggestion? Avoid picking this place for a first date; many of the dishes require you to eat with your fingers, and we found ourselves struggling with balance a few times. However, if both of you are relaxed about a few spills, it can definitely lead to some good conversation!
