The Portland Grill - Manchester

Wondered why afterwards it was so quiet and next door was heaving. We were the only couple in there for a while and considering it was about 6pm that should have said a lot. The place was freezing and I didn't want to take my coat off even whilst eating. Obviously the owners think it's not an expense worth spending money on to keep staff and guests comfortable. The food was really average. I had a burger that cost £15 and tasted like it was from a burger van. Won't ever be going back here again. I also HATE places that automatically sneak service charge on and hope its not noticed. This isn't America! Had I noticed before by partner had paid it would definitely have been removed. Service did not warrant a tip!!!!

A varied menu for every taste, from snacks to complete 3-course meals, all freshly cooked with excellent ingredients. Can be very busy when they have business events at the hotel, but choose the right time and it is easy to use. Probably best to check through rings first (and also ask for one of the window tables for the best views) Sit at one of the tables overlooking the Piccadilly Gardens and enjoy wonderful food and a great view at the same time. The staff is very professional and very pleasant. Well worth a visit if you enjoy delicious food in a bright restaurant with excellent views.

The food is absolutely delicious! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and I will definitely return if I'm ever in Manchester again! The atmosphere on a Saturday night is fantastic, and the staff is friendly and accommodating whenever possible. I highly recommend this place!
