Contribuiți la feedbackWe spent the afternoon here, based upon the recommendation of our host at TikayKilla lodge. We had a reservation for a meal with wine pairings. What a phenomenal experience!!! We are experienced travelers and have dined at some of the best restaurants around the world...this meal was one of our top 3 meals ever!!!!! Our sommelier, Dibe, was extremely knowledgeable about the wines; Inez, the server, was engaging and made us feel right at home; and Michael, the chef, was fantastic as well!!! Each course of the meal was perfectly paired with the wines to complement each other, and each and every course was phenomenal - I actually took pictures of each course of food and wine, so I wouldn't forget what we had ( I have never taken pictures of food before, I'm not one of "those" people...that's how good it was!!!) Seated at our table, we could look just out the window and see the pergolas with the grape vines hanging down...so beautiful! We went back the next day to stock up on their wonderful wines to bring home ... (We couldn't bring them back on our bikes that day). All in all, an absolutely phenomenal meal wth fantastic hosts - a must see!!!! Dibe, Inez, and Michael - thank you for a spectacular experience!!
We were staying at TikayKilla Lodge with another couple and rented bicycles to tour the surrounding wineries and olive orchards. We asked our host to recommend a nice place for a mulit-course lunch with pared wines. He made reservations for us at Casa Coupage...and we are forever thankful. The outside of the facilitiy is very non-descript and we rode past once before making sure we had the correct address. As others have said, this is actually two independent entities working in concert - Casa Coupage and Antecedro winery...both of which are magnificant. First, this is intimate dining at its finest. They purposely limit reservations so that they can give you their undivided attention during your meal. Dibe (from the winery) explained in wonderful detail about each wine. While Mendoza is famous for its Malbec (and theirs was wonderful), we also tasted a delicious Pinot Noir, Tempanillo and Torrentes that were each a perfect compliment to the courses served. As for the food, Ines was our host, and just as with the wines, she offered one unique course after another - each of which was spectacuar. Throughout the meal, Inez and Dibe provided relaxed comfortable conversation that made us feel like we were guests in their home rather than customers. The entire meal was so wonderful that we asked to visit the kitchen and thank Ines's husband and chef, Michael after we finished. Great food, great wine, great conversation, great hosts - all in a cozy intimate setting near a window looking out at a lovely patio and grape vine trellises. I could not think of a more romantic place for dinner with your loved one, or a more relaxed and warm setting for dinner and conversation with close friends. Thank you Ines, Dibe and Michael for a dinner we will always remember.
Casa Coupage is a restaurant located on the premises of AMP Cava, a winery (bodega) in the Maipu area outside Mendoza city. The tourism host, Dibe, does a great job of guiding you through both the wine tasting and the restaurant. The restaurant, in a typical old Mendoza country house, overlooks a lovely green courtyard and the approximately 75-year-old winery. Inside it feels like a thoughtfully-decorated but not imposing country home, with massive antique wooden china cabinets and a tiled floor. You may choose either from an a la carte list or a 450-peso tasting menu. I am always pleased to see this at the bodega lunches, because in most cases your only choice is very expensive, multi-course meal with wines, which may simply be too much for your taste on any given day. The cost of the tasting menu does not include wines, which you must purchase separately. It offers options of tasting 3, 4 or 5 wines along with your meal, or choosing individual wines from a rather pricey list of good choices. (As we did, you may choose another option: if you do the bodega tour late morning, you can request to do your wine tasting with your lunch, at the lunch table.) The a la carte menu offers several items each for the first and second courses. Our group of four tasted the smoked salmon plate (large and for a light eater, big enough for main course) and an eggplant/cheese/tomato tower and humita (a sort of Mendocino creamed corn dish) appetizers. They were delicious. Main courses were the skirt steak, which diners pronounced delicious and perfectly cooked; and white fish (hake) properly prepared in the oven with a tasty tomato sauce, also excellent. Service at both AMP and Casa Coupage was terrific, staff responsive to requests and responding cheerily to all of our requests. This is definitely one of the top venues for wine tasting at a Mendoza bodega. Just remember what is different here is that despite their co-location, the bodega and the restaurant are separate businesses meaning you'll pay them separately. They do take credit cards.
Ines and Michele turned this lunch into an unforgettable experience. The food, the setting, the background music, the wines,... It was all perfect.
This is place is hard to find - but worth the effort. We visited as part of our gourmet food and wine holiday in MendozaWe had an amazing lunch (I highly recommend the Degustation Menu). Five courses with three matched wines (you can do 5 wines if you want, but even I have a limit on the amount of wine I can drink - and we had been eating and wine tasting non-stop for the last week- yes it is a hard life!)This place ranks as one of the best meal/wine experience I have had. Every dish was very good, the tiramisu for desert is a must try .. get Inez to match with the perfect wine for you and you will be in heaven!Inez is a great host and fine sommelier - she really engages with you to work out what would be the best wine match for you, not just some academic wine pairing...The setting is beautiful and homely. It is relaxed and informal, but you feel special and important guests with great friends, remarkable food and amazing wines..
