It is really a local take away Chinese restaurant with some tables in an almost bare ambiance room. The floor and tables didn' t look very clean, I was the only non take away customer this evening. The service is very focused on the people picking up their take away orders so it takes a while before someone comes to the table. The menu shows a large number of dishes. I choose as starter 2 skewers chicken sate with peanut sauce and mixed salad. The chicken sate was fried in oil, not grilled and very salty. The salad was fresh but no oil/vinegar. The peanut sauce was okay. 2/5 The main course I choose Stir fried prawns with wok vegetables and noodles. 3/5 The green tea didn' thave enough tea leaves to get flavour. 2/5. The service was friendly but very slow. Not a place to please your business partners but a real local Oriental take away Imbiss
It is apparent from the interior that this place used to be a non-Oriental establishment and no amount of plastic flowers or Asian trinkets hanging on the wall can mask its past. However, once your food is served there is no denying the restaurant’s faithfulness to Asian flavor which makes it easy for one to forgive the confused decor. A mixed Spezialitäten (specialties) of Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand with a bit of Chinese thrown in, all fill the menu. Prices for Suppen (soups) and Vorspeisen (appetizers) delightfully start around 1.50 Euros while the Spezialitäten take off at 6 Euros up. There’s a good variety to choose from as categorized by the main ingredients like Vegetarische Gerichte (Vegetable dishes), Nudelgerichte (Noodles), Reisgerichte (Rice with something else), Hühnerfleischgerichte (Chicken), Knusprige Hühnerfleischgerichte (Crispy Chicken Thighs done in different ways), Rindfleischgerichte (Beef), Schweinefleischgerichte (Pork), Entengerichte (Duck), Garnelen und Tintenfischgerichte (Shrimps and Squids) and the so called Spezialitäten (mixed ingredients). There are only two types of desserts but you probably won’t be craving for any once you’ve downed your food as servings are ala Deutsch (in huge portions). Typical sodas and juices are available as well as wine and other alcohol drinks like beer.A minor caveat to diners, though. It might take a while for your orders to reach your table as the place fills up with hungry patrons and people waiting by the doorway to pick-up their takeaways as all the food are simultaneously prepared. It is obvious that the restaurant is undermanned but again, the nicely cooked dishes can make you forget about the shortcomings. In general, the food’s taste is above the typical, more ubiquitous Asian restaurants around Mainz like Thai Express and yes, there is a long list of dishes on the menu that should entice you to come back many times over.
