Altstadtcafe - Mainz

Cosy café, located in the heart of the mainzer old town, with the best breakfast in the city!

We were only 1x in old town cafe. because it is very well visited and we had forgotten to book, we sat outside. There was only one place inside next to the toilet free. the breakfast was okay, not overwhelming. the service was ok, the waiting time was a bit long.

After we got after 45! minutes waiting period fruit vegetables and bread basket with cheese, tomato and salmi, the whole grain bread tasted hard and tough - that was certainly not just yesterday. the müsli tasted oversugar. fruit, cheese and salami but good. the personal was unfriendly and seemed overwhelmed or desintered.

Many years ago I was there twice and then last year the first time again - the reason for the long absenteeity was at the then extremely slow service. last year I had more nice visits and the waiting times for eating kept still in limits. at my last visit with a friend, however, we had to wait almost an hour for two egg dishes and two milk dishes. obviously the order of order was not observed, as others who ordered after us were given their food before us. when my mom didn't come with my friend at the same time, I asked directly and got as answer: that's probably still coming. I even repeated my order (I wanted the roasted müsli) another 30 minutes later I asked again politely (I was uncomfortable) whether the müsli would soon come. then the waitress looked at her note and told me without a word of apology that she had forgotten whether to order it. I chased this and assumed that now all would be done for me to soon get my bad. another 15 minutes nothing happened. I then spoke to the detachment of the waitress and said that I no longer want it, unless it is just in the grasp to be completed. so it was then and it was served me again without apology. of course it was then also the unroasted müsli. That's what happened many years ago, which is why I didn't come so long. so the service would not be so slow/unkoordinated, the cafe for ambiente, offer and price-performance ratio of me would certainly get 4 points, but unfortunately there are only two. the long waiting times without a word of regretting one unfortunately all the stay.

Cozy little caffe in the mainzer old town! delicious breakfast, very good coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice! very good price/performance ratio and nice service.
