The Park Gate Inn - Maidstone

Lovely cozy little pub just behind Leeds castle, we had the festive set menu and the quality was incredible. Recommend the pork belly! Really good value for money

Authentic cooking. Roasts and vegetables were nicely cooked. We all commented on the quality.

We pre-booked a table online but the booking did not register at the pub. There were no spare tables, only in the self service area. We found a table and ordered a sharing trio roast platter meal at the bar. We waited 45 minutes for the meal to arrive and when it came, after we had chased it up, it was cold, the potatoes were black and like bullets and the portions were very small, not fit for two people to share! We asked for the meal to be changed but the replacement meal was just the same. The excuse as to why the meal was cold was that there was a breeze in the kitchen which was cooling the food. We picked at what could be eaten and left the rest. As they were very short staffed we were not able to find anyone to let them know how disappointed we were and therefore we won't be returning anytime soon! It is a shame as we have had some nice meals there in the past but this one experience has tainted our view of the Park Gate Inn.

Pleasant local pub serving good food, convenient location. Only downside, it was very chilly in there!

Nice Pup next to Leeds Castle. Easy walk from there. Friendly staff, very good food, cold beer overall: very good!
