Good atmosphere on a deck overlooking the water in Mahone Bay one of the most beautiful towns on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. Had a good Rueben sandwich with fries. They have a large selection of sandwiches and seafood as well as dozens of on tap beers.
The restaurant offers stunning views of Mhone Bay. It is remarkable to think about the challenges that Mader must have faced when coming to this area in the 1800s.
My husband absolutely loved this place! He had a great time trying out different beers. It's a genuine pub, frequented by locals, always bustling, and decorated with authentic interior including a plastic rhinoceros head. Our dinner was delicious pub food. You can't resist the scallops when they're straight from the wharf and lightly seared. The onion rings were the best I've ever tasted.
We stopped here for lunch while passing thru Mahone Bay. Quaint nautical themed pub with an outdoor patio overlooking the water. We were served by an overly solicitous waiter and ordered the seafood chowder with a baguette. When served it came with 1 small thin slice of what looked like french bread. I asked where the baguette was and the waiter asked if I wanted more bread which I did and was brought two more small thin slices of bread to accompany a truly awful chowder. Afterwards while I used the men's room my wife paid the tab and we left. When we were out of town she said we were charged .50 for each extra slice of bread.. when a baguette should have originally been served. It was only $1.00 but what a ripoff. If this experience is typical treatment of tourist diners and customers in general it doesn't speak well of the management philosophy of this restaurant which seems to be profit over all else.Certainly not recommended.
