If you are planning a special event in the Madisonville or Huntsville area, consider the Woodbine Inn and Restaurant as your venue. We celebrated our daughter’s 40th birthday there on July 1. The food was delicious and served on time, the service was impeccable, and the tearoom, beautifully attired. Denise and Michael are wonderful to work with and accommodated our every need. The evening got an A from everyone involved. I might add that the flowers were ordered from Heart to Heart, a local Madisonville florist and boutique . I highly recommend them to you as well. Our daughter’s birthday celebration goes down in our books as a wonderful memory.
My daughter and son-in-law took me there for brunch-lunch for Father's Day. We had the brunch buffet, and it was delicious ! Service was a little slow for us, but they were busy. Biscuits were homemade and huge. Sausage had just enough spices for me, I loved them. Then again, I love spicy foods. Don't miss their Monte Cristo Sandwich with raspberry sauce ! Everything on the buffet was great! Yes, I stuffed myself. I couldn't help it! They have done a great job on the renovations also !
Mr. Bill and I drove up to Madisonville on a Saturday for dinner reservations because we’d read in Postcards Magazine what a terrific inn and restaurant this was. Approaching the massive historical Victorian architecture was a real treat to see. Inn and restaurant actually several different eating locations inside the old home allowed us to sit on the amazing Victorian furniture just inside the parlor door. We were seated by the owner who proudly described the layout of the various places to have dinner. The largest restaurant had 12 foot ceilings and the woodwork was all original! Check out the pictures. The cozy Tea Room will soon boast High Tea! The “Nook” is a special round table for 6 inside a bay window, by specific reservation. The Pub will soon open. Outdoors there is seating space inside and around the lovely gazebo for weddings and such. Weekends offer prime ribeye, which I already decided on. Mr. Bill selected flat iron steak, medium cooked. We nixed appetizers so we could get dessert instead. Bill was really pleased with his choice that included grilled potatoes and a squash medley. Mine was disappointing half inch thick very fatty steak. It tasted good and was tender but I sadly wound up taking a lot home for our pup. My potatoes were somewhat overdone. We had pretty good apple bourbon gelato afterwards which was more the consistency of ice cream. Another table mentioned their salmon was dry. I did have a glass of red wine from the short wine list (see photo). And a basket of heated buttered storebought bread came before the entrees. There is parking across the street, handicapped ramp, easy mobility throughout the building. I’m hoping High Tea and the Pub will crowd the place with pleased visitors. I was somewhat satisfied and hope things go well with the owners. Bill was very pleased.
Wanted to try their Thursday night. Buffet. The Buffet is also a carry out. They allowed to carry out customers to fix her own to go containers and the carry out customers would literally take every piece of food that was out on the buffet . I watched one customer pick up the container and dump it over in there to go box. And if that’s the way, the Woodbine wants to run their business that is fine I was there one and a half hours and never got any food I was wanting .The food that I did manage to elbow my way in and get had no seasoning whatsoever. We received our check they came by and got my bank card and kept it for about 15 to 20 minutes , in my opinion that was entirely too long. After paying our bill and leaving, I went and got me something to eat from somewhere else. I have eaten at the Woodbine under the previous owners.. And thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience, and the food. I really wanted to enjoy this experience, but I was very disappointed.
