The full order of red beans and rice with sausage was fantastic and hard to resist. In hindsight, I should have opted for the half order and called it a day, but my indulgence took over, and I finished the entire dish. The cornbread was a delightful surprise—slightly sweet, yet moist and tender, making it perfect for soaking up the beans and rice. My companions ordered the half portion of the fish special and couldn't stop raving about it. With its cozy dining room, it was nearly a perfect experience: delicious food, great people-watching, and a charming antidote to the ordinary.
I can’t express enough how much I adore this restaurant! Her jambalayas are absolutely to die for, and many have fought over her incredible crab cakes. I've heard that her gummy bears have even cured someone of their hunger! The portions are wonderfully generous – truly a gift from above. It’s puzzling that more of my classmates haven’t been here yet, especially since it’s conveniently located right next to Mickey’s. If you're craving delicious food but want to avoid burning your tongue, I recommend going for the rice that's half dirty and half white.
Delicious Cajun style foods. The ulcer chicken was delicious and came in a plentiful amount. Two chicken breasts in a 'full' serving! This place knows how to make food sharp. There are also less spicy dishes for the less adventurous.
Ambience: Basically like an extended food truck. Easy setup with a few New Orleans touches. You can see directly into the kitchen and the menus are paper pieces. You really dig out the room there with probably 10 seats. Food: Food tastes very cooked at home. Not too fancy, but good taste. I had the red beans and rice with double sausage and my friend got the golf shrimp dinner. Pretty sure everything comes with Cornbread. The dirty rice was hot (at least for me). A novelty I had to try was the chocolate. I had no idea, was, but apparently it's a New Orleans tradition with butter, sugar and milk and pecans and it tastes like a granular caramel. Very sweet and delicious. About $3,50 for one of these babies. Service: Fast and friendly. Not a whole lot of interaction (to see as a counterfeit), but everything we had was good! For the price, I think it was a pretty good thing.
I tried the other location years ago and wasn't impressed. Now I feel like I need to make up for lost time. So delicious! The shrimp po'boy is great and the jambalaya and beans and rice are just solidly yummy food. I'll be back! We enjoyed sitting at the window watching traffic outside. Friendly staff, homey place with nice plants--just a great place.
