Cafe Allegre - Madison

I went to dinner and ordered a “surf and turf”. It was a special. Food was really good, but…. I got the bill and it was $59.99 for my plate. Are you crazy? Small lobster tail and maybe 4 oz of steak. I think you better rethink your pricing…. I couldn’t believe it

Dependable Italian food. Good service. Nice ambience. Was there on a weekday and it was crowded and loud. Compared to dependable Italian in the midwest, somewhat expensive.

Honestly don’t see the hype with this place. Went here a few nights after Christmas with family. We were told by so many people that this is the best in town and in my opinion it was just eh. Felt like we waited forever for the food. Bread was crumbly and fell apart. Calamari was good. When we finally got our dinner the chicken parm was good. One of us got filet mignon bordelaise- asked for it medium rare and it got it well done. The place was clean and nicely decorated. Street parking and parking lot in the back.

Great food and service! Super friendly staff and the building is always really clean. I’ve always enjoyed the food here. Large portions and reasonable prices.

Was there for a holiday party. Room was over crowded, staff did an amazing job for conditions.
