Z'makana Stube - Macugnaga

You can look in two ways at this restaurant. If You would look for a top restaurant, you would be disappointed. However, if you are looking for a decent restaurant in this mountain village, I am sure this is a very good option. We liked the food although a vegetarian or fish main dish would have been fine and the wine list is very extensive. We got a recommendation for a very nice Barbera. Worth the visit if you are in Macugnana.

We had lunch at the restaurant based on reading the reviews on trip advisor so our expectations were high. The service was warm and friendly and staff was delightful. Unfortunately the food was quite average and not in line with our expectations. The location of the restaurant also does not have any views either so there was nothing to make our trip memorable.

My husband and I just returned from spending Christmas in Macugnaga which was absolutely wonderful. Our last night we decided to try to make reservations for this restaurant as we had heard it was very popular and difficult to just get in at the last minute. We were very pleased when they said they could give us a table. We ordered a bottle of 2009 Chianti Classico and the Steak in Barrolo Wine sauce.All I can say is it was to die for! The fillet was perfectly cooked, the Parmesan wafer the steak rested had just enough tang, the sauce was heavenly, the tiny roast potatoes perfect, and so were the accompanying vegetables. They gave us a small home made ricotta cheese starter which was fantastic. With coffee afterwards we were given what was similar too but much better than home made fudge. Beautifully made but not heavy just melt in your mouth nummy! We have both sampled cuisine at Michelin Star restaurants around the globe and this venue is right up there with the best. We have already decided to make a pilgrimage back to have another amazing and memorable meal at this establishment!

Ristorante all'interno di un residence, accessibile anche ai non residenti. Molto ben arredato, non grandissimo, in pieno centro. Servizio preciso e cordiale. Piatti raffinati, ben presentati. Buona lista dei vini. Prezzi adeguati alla tipologia di ristorazione.

Bel locale tipico, personale cortese, servizio nei tempi giusti. Bresaola, formaggi e filetto indimenticabili. Cantina con tantissime etichette di livello a prezzi giusti. Sicuramente non è un ristorante economico, ma ne vale la pena.
