Contribuiți la feedbackThe chicken and chips were decent, though nothing extraordinary. The rotisserie chicken is similar to what you’d find at any Woolworths, but at a much lower price. It was a bit drier than I prefer, though there were some juicy portions. Overall, it seemed like it had been sitting in the warmer a bit too long. The chips, on the other hand, were of good quality. Perfectly salted, they were fairly fresh and had a nice crunch. The ones that weren’t crunchy were soft and tender—solid chips overall. As for the wings, I don't think they were fresh; they seemed to be the pre-crumbed Ingham-style wings that are deep-fried. They were tasty if not remarkable, making for a great snack. You can see why they’re popular, often showcased in the shop window, and I’m sure many school kids grab them after school. At a reasonable price, they disappear quickly. The Fields Chicken Shop might just be my new go-to for a quick and budget-friendly meal. While it’s far from fancy and doesn’t have the appeal or variety of places like Chargrill Charlie’s or El Jannah, it’s local, affordable, and the service is friendly—definite advantages for any eatery.
This restaurant recently relocated from the other side of town and has undergone some renovations. However, the quality of their chicken, fries, and other takeaway items feels average and quite cheap. I even ended up with some inedible fried chicken during one visit. Unfortunately, their fresh chicken and customer service leave much to be desired. Recently, I bought two kilograms of chicken wings, but when my wife opened the bag later, she found that all the wing drumettes had been removed. When I returned to address the issue, the owner insisted that they were just "small ones." I stood firm and ultimately received a refund.
Typically, you’d expect to pay at least $10 for a half chicken and chips anywhere else, especially in the city or the eastern suburbs, but here it was only $6.50. With a drink, it came to $7.50, which is quite a steal! I also added some chicken wings for an additional $7.50. This was a bit of a splurge, but my partner was hungry too. The chicken and chips were decent, though not extraordinary. It was the kind of rotisserie chicken you can find at any Woolworths, just a bit cheaper. While it could have been a touch juicier—some pieces were a bit dry—it wasn’t bad overall. There were definitely juicy bits, but it seemed like it had been sitting in the warmer for a bit too long. The chips were quite good, fresh and nicely crispy, while the softer ones were still enjoyable. As for the wings, I suspect they weren’t fresh. They seemed to be the frozen variety that are deep-fried, but they made for a tasty snack. I can see why they’re popular—they're prominently displayed and likely a go-to for students after school. Overall, the Fields Chicken Shop is shaping up to be a great option for a quick and inexpensive meal. While it might not have the charm or variety of places like Chargrill Charlie's or El Jannah, the local atmosphere, low prices, and friendly service make it a reliable choice. It's an excellent spot to satisfy your hunger without breaking the bank.
One of the most popular food spots in Glenquarie Mall, known for its affordability. However, the quality of the food leaves much to be desired, featuring frozen, deep-fried options. The offerings are quite oily and fatty, making it a cheaper alternative to McDonald's. Despite this, it remains a favorite among locals, especially for items like roast chicken wings and chips.
