Hy-vee - Macomb

Located next to Hy-Vee is a separate liquor store that boasts an extensive selection of beer, wine, and spirits. They offer a fantastic variety of whiskey, and don’t miss the rare finds behind the counter. Since I don’t live in Illinois, I enjoy exploring local beers and ciders by creating my own six-pack. The staff here is always friendly and welcoming. During my recent visit, even though they were busy cleaning up after someone had dropped a six-pack, they went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating.

I called the store, and the worker informed me that the order had been picked up and suggested there might have been a mix-up with DoorDash, telling me to check with the recipient since the flowers should be there. After hanging up, I tried to contact the recipient, but then my DoorDash order was suddenly canceled at 1:57 PM (with the flower department closing at 2 PM). I had no way to reach anyone on DoorDash, and when I called back, the manager said to contact him if there were any issues, and he would help resolve them. I called back just two minutes later, yet I was told that the floral department was closed and everyone had already left. So, while it was claimed that the flowers were made and delivered by someone, they actually weren’t, and my order got canceled without any communication. I’m extremely disappointed with both Hy-Vee Floral and DoorDash. Instead of resolving the problem, they just shrugged it off and left me in the dark.

I love Hy-Vee because of the wonderful customer service. I also like their tenderloins and chicken fritters. Their Chinese food is pretty good, too.

When I walk in the door of this Hy-Vee I immediately have a feeling of being welcomed. I can honestly say I have never been in a store where the employees are so friendly and helpful. Every single employee is polite and friendly almost like they know you on a personal basis. The store is extremely clean and inviting, everything is arranged in a way where it is easy to find. If you do have trouble finding something, one of their wonderful employees will walk you right to the item. I would never think of getting my groceries anywhere else. Every time I go in the store I am more impressed.

I have had a disappointing experience with Chinese food, having tried it three different times, and each time it made me feel ill. I used to enjoy Hy-Chi a lot years ago, so I’m not sure what went wrong. The food is now slimy and lacking in flavor, and I was surprised to find there weren't even any onions in the fried rice. It's way too pricey for food that ruins your appetite after just one bite. Don't get me wrong, the kitchen, deli, and salad bar are decent, but as far as Hy-Vee Chinese goes… I won't be returning.
