Sorbellos Italian Restaruant - Mackay

Excellent food .. best service.. I credible mojitos .. good ambience .. overall a very good experience

Somehow it's 2019 and Sorbello's still doesn't offer split payments? Although the meal was nice and cooked on time, when my group and I went to pay before leaving, we were told there could be no split payments between the 3 of us. We were offered the option of getting cash out through their eftpos machine although were not simply allowed to split the bill and pay by card? How does this make sense? We were told that it would break down their eftpos system but yet it was easy enough for them to do cash out for 3 people? We are adults and earn our own wages and should have a responsibility of paying for our own food separately rather than having to pay back someone who has to pay for the WHOLE table. I know for myself I don't have a minimum $100 laying around. This is the 21st century, no one carries around cash and it is very disappointing to also be told to get cash out across the road when their internets down $2.50 atm fee. I hope this is something Sorbellos can work to improve.

I have been craving a spaghetti chicken carbonara all day. I found This Italian restaurant around the corner from the motel with awesome reviews. I walked there ordered takeaway, got back to room to enjoy my carbonara and a movie, Only to discover it is the worst carbonara I have ever tasted. To top the experience off, I attempt to speak to them about it, only to be spoken rudely in return from what turns out to be one of the owners. I will never be back and I will always speak of how bad this experience was.

Sorbello 's is clearly a favourite with the Mackay locals it was busy on the Wednesday night that we visited. Unfortunately, however, the food did not live up to any expectations and was a disappointment after a long day on the road from Rockhampton up to Mackay. The olives we shared as a starter were incredibly acidic and tasted like they 'd been soaking in the vinegary brine for weeks, to the extent that my (actually quite nice) glass of red tasted almost fizzy as a result. I ordered a simple pizza for my main, and with Sorbello 's award for Best Pizza in Mackay and the Whitsundays hanging proudly on the wall, I had high hopes. These were dashed when my meal arrived at best it was a store bought base with an overcooked topping, and at worst it was a $2 frozen pizza that had a few ingredients added and was then in the oven for too long. My family enjoyed their non pizza mains, although one of our side orders was wrong. Service was for the most part great, and it wasn 't an expensive meal. The decor is functional, with breeze block style ceiling tiles. Not an expensive meal but not a pleasant one either. I wouldn 't bother returning if I 'm ever back in Mackay.

Usually a great experience but unfortunately in the past few years the standard of food served has nose dived. Seems tasteless and mushy.
