Metro - Mackay

My 12 year old daughter and I lunched at Cafe Metro on a visit to Mackay. Food was good, vege burger tasty, fish n chips huge! Service was good. No lasting impression but nothing bad to say either. Convenient position.

Quick service, good simple fare well cooked, fantastic coffee, seating indoor and outdoor, we had bacon and egg, easily catered for food intolerances which was refreshing and appreciated

I have dined here before and am always impressed by the service but tonight I had the spaghetti marinara which is my personal favourite and it was truely great. Large chunks of fish, squid and prawns in a tomato napoli sauce. It was just a little sweeter than I am used too but it was splendid. Top that off with a delightful waitress and it was a top meal. This meal is highly recommended.

Stopped in for takeaway to bring back to my hotel. Owner? Was very helpful and accommodating. Extremely friendly. Prices were on Par with other local spots. Food was hot and quick. Nice salad extra with spring rolls. Decadent desserts. Only wish they had to pack a fork in my bag.

I ordered a skinny flat white in a mug, but received a cappuccino in a mug instead. My friend ordered a cappuccino in a cup, but received a skinny flat white in a cup. When we raised the issue with the waitress, she simply asked if we were happy with the mix-up or if we wanted her to change them. The coffee tasted good, but could have been hotter. Overall, the food was lackluster and the waitress seemed bored with her job. She could use some improvement in customer service skills. It's a shame because the location and set-up of the restaurant are pleasant. Unfortunately, this experience is what I have come to expect in eateries in Mackay. I would give this restaurant a rating of 2-1/2 out of 5.
