Shining Waters Bakery - MABOU

Shining Waters is a terrific place for breakfast or lunch or the most scrumptious baked goods. It's open from early in the morning until about 2 p.m. It's on the main street of Mabou, which is a very small town of 100-200 people. From the minute you walk in, you're among friends. People chat between tables. People know who you are after you've been there once. People are busy having Gaelic lessons at one table, while a fisherman is reading a novel at another. Everything we ate was heavenly. The porridge bread, as toast or as French toast, has got to be tried! The cinnamon rolls are gigantic and will fill you up for the day. Every breakfast is delicious and filling. The waiters and the owner are so friendly and just about envelop you with friendliness, helpfulness, and love. The prices are so reasonable. And Mabou is beautiful. Definitely go!

Had the clubhouse sandwich. It was very good, would recommend. Price was fair and the service was good.

Who knew that the Rankin Family (Canadian celtic/country/folk group) haled from Mabou? We didn't know that and stumbled upon it as we made a wrong turn and happened into Mabou. The wrong turn allowed us to find Shining Waters, a small eatery where the locals seem to hang out.We were seated immediately and settled in for the usual Canadian breakfast ... bacon, eggs, hash browns and toast ... with all the coffee we could drink. The meal was great and the service delightful. The young woman serving us was cheery, smiling and attentive. She also provided us with directions to get to our destination which would only have required us to make the right turn!!! Then again, without the wrong turn we might never have found this little nugget of a restaurant.We highly recommend this restaurant.

Friendly staff will serve you a delicious breakfast or lunch in a clean, welcoming environment. The porridge French toast is out of this world. For something lighter, choose scrambled eggs cooked to perfection with a side of grilled tomatoes. The coffee is always piping hot and fresh.Lots of indoor and outdoor seating.

As a group of friends travelling through Nova Scotia, we decided to stop for lunch and luckily found Shining Waters Eatery. The owner cooks and/or prepares all of her food fresh and it was delicious. I had the hamburger soup. I had to try it for the name! It was a soup with minced meat in it. It was very tasty and worth ordering. My friend, who also ordered it, agreed with my sentiments. The others, of our group, ordered toasted sandwiches which were tasty and filling due to the thickly sliced bread. Coffee came in a mug and was one of the best we had whilst travelling. Thank you for an enjoyable meal.
