After we have been the tourist restaurant roads in lyon, our group of five decided Italians would be a nice change to all French that we had eaten during our months in France, so that we have eaten on the food in fuxia. two of...our group are not pasta eater so ended with the salates, one of them is a salmon salad, which was in the round a buck salate with a few bits laughs, very subduing. the pasta options were okay. the service was reasonable and that was not too expensive, but if I were to eat here again, then the answer would probably be a no.
I ate at Fuxia with my wife on a Sunday evening late in July and found it to be a cut above the average in a city full of very predictable French style restaurants. True, we were attracted by the Ristorante sign on the building...facade after eating out in Lyon on overpriced French style meat and fish the previous two nights. Subsequently, we were not disappointed with Fuxia and its Mediterranean offerings. A shared plated of cured meats and pickled vegetables for a starter followed by rigatoni/aubergine pasta and risotto/prawn dishes for mains were well presented and certainly a welcome change from the usual fare in Lyon and exceptionally well priced at EUR43.00 the lot. Two rounds of a very acceptable Italian Pinot Grigio at EUR 5.00 per glass and Carlsberg beer at EUR 3.70 per 250 ml glass completed the deal and left us very satisfied. The venue was furnished appropriately with practical chairs and tables inside and out, although the tables were quite small and sparsely dressed. The English speaking wait staff were extremely polite and coped well with our limited French vocabulary and made a very special effort to keep the scourge of all outdoor restaurants in France, the habitual smokers, away from us. Most of the other patrons appeared to be local couples and families finishing off another quiet Sunday evening in Lyon and all looked to be as happy as we were with the meals. The Fuxia owners should be proud of their ability to provide good food at a fair price in pleasant surroundings and we will certainly return if given the chance.
Seduced by the menu and clean airy decor, 4 of us settled in for a long pleasant evening of good food and good company. The company was excellent, but the food another matter. Delicious black olives appeared on the table as a taster while we...decided what to eat, however, the black olives in any of our chosen meals came from a tin! The melanzane parmigiana was not available , have you ever heard of an Italian restaurant that doesn 't have aubergines? We all chose Escalope Milanese as our main course being a favourite, what a mistake, the veal was very dark, very tough and seemingly very old. One of our companions is an Italian chef from London and after experiencing all this was bitterly disappointed so we had a coffee and left. Oh yes, one more thing we had to ask for more cassis in our glasses of kir as they were virtually tasteless. Too many corners being cut here for a better review.
Personnel et service très sympa. Vin correct, bonne musique. Assiette charcuterie copieuse et bonne. Par contre risotto cèpe et poulet insipide et sec...
