Frankly, the food here is nothing spectacular and if your expectation is higher end, continental and German inspired menu items, you are going to be disappointed. The menu is pretty comprehensive with enough choices that it should appeal to everyone in your party. We started with the onion soup and escargot for appetizers. The soup was served in a good sized bowl, perfect for those cooler evenings. Taste wise, it was as good as anywhere else. The escargot was good again, nothing special. For mains, we went with Steak Frites (off the menu) and my wife had a steak special. The steak frites was just meh. The meat was sub par and you had to chew and chew to get it to break up. The special on the other hand was very tender and actually very good. We ended up sharing most of her meal. We had a look at the dessert cart, which is kind of cool in an old school sort of way. Desserts looked yummy but premade. Service was very good and the wait staff is very pleasant. As I said, all in all a very solid place with good food but it can be hit or miss. There is usually a wait to get in the place on weekends so plan ahead.
I came here with my girlfriend; we had a reservation and were seated immediately. Service was prompt and on point: our water glasses were kept filled, our orders were taken quickly, the right utensils were always on the table (save one minor mishap), and our server knew the menu well. The hostess, our server, and the bartender all said goodbye as we were leaving! Very personal and friendly. The environment is nice and low key. Decor is tempered by the brick walls, with jazz in the background. The Eatery takes itself seriously and is not too pretentious, but it isn 't unpretentious either. As for the food: the Eatery likes to rotate seasonal menus, so there 's almost always something exciting and different going on. Appetizer (pictured) was well plated and didn 't suffer from too crunchy spring roll syndrome . Arugula salad was quite good. Paella Valenciana off the Miami Spice menu was flavorful, if overloaded with different seafoods and meats. The dessert cart takes the cake (cheesy, I know) you WILL have room, whether you make some or not. You can 't go wrong here the cheesecakes and pies especially hit a sweet spot of flavor and richness. You pay a good bit we spent $100, and didn 't get drinks and for this much I wish the entree was more memorable. But for a special night out or to try the latest seasonal items, the Eatery more than satisfies.
This place is amazing! The lobster bisque was unique compared to anything I've had and it was spot on. You can't go wrong with the lamb chops. Awesome!!
Upscale dining location in downtown Lynchburg. Decided to visit this beautiful restaurant on a Tuesday night. The atmosphere is mostly quiet with jazz music playing background. The waiter was really nice and professional, he knows the menu well and done a great job serving. My girlfriend and I ordered a smoked salmon classic for appetizer, steak frites and steak tenderloin for entrees, and pomegranate cheesecake and cream brule for desserts. Overall the experience is above expectation. If i can change something on the menu I will definitely recommend them using a higher quality bread for their smoked salmon classic. The tenderloin sauce was too salty but I just assume that's how the dish suppose to be done. Right now they are running a march madness deal, which is buy one entree and one entree free. Would definitely recommend you to Bring your friends and significant ones to this high end place with gourmet food
Enjoyed the October fest and the doppelbock! Went there for dinner at 7pm on a Monday night. We closed the place down and had a great time. I went with my parents, uncle and aunts who can't hear so well. It was nice to have a nice quiet place to enjoy their company. We all ordered off the Octoberfest menu. I had the pork something or other that was wrapped in bacon and covered in mushrooms. It was delightful. The beer was awesome even though they did not have an octoberfest style beer. Probably a good thing or I would not have gotten the doppelbock. We had very nice desert too. Our waiter was very informative and patient
