In a historic village, on the empire river, an ancient oil mill turned into a restaurant. particular place and certainly effect. simple, but careful cuisine. Young staff. Fixed menu 35 euros and you can spend a nice evening, satisfying your appetite.

What to say about this restaurant? The reason why I gave it a 50/50 judgement is due to some things good and other things not good. Located in a beautiful valley surrounded by thousands of olive trees the building is an old mill where the people were used to crush olive to get oil. A small creek is flowing just beside and you can dine in summer on a terrace over the water. Other good things were the Ligurian green pie made with local herbs and rice, the ox tongue served among the starters, the fettuccine with pesto and the ravioli and a pot of snails cooked Italian style among the main course. A nice Tiramisù was concluding the meal. The bad things were the four hours taken to arrive to the Tiramisù and the lack of cleaning. The old mill has never been refurbished and last owner is just using it till collapse. You may consider it picturesque but, there is a limit for anything. The kitchen was not able to cope with the amount of guest and you have to wait long time to be served between one course and the next. Fixed menu is a nice strategy to keep costs under control and reduce waste but, you need to inform your customers to arrive all at the same time. On the other hand, who arrive first has to wait till the last one has been served to get next course. A meal made of five/six starters, two pastas and three main courses could be concluded in four hours. Worst than a wedding party. You must have a lot of topics to talk about with your friends so be prepared and be an excellent entertainer to stand four hours seated on uncomfortable chairs

Saw this place fiercely recommended by other guests who had stayed in our holiday home. What can I say but fully agree? A really special setting, very nice staff, overwhelming food (in terms of taste, variety and quantity! and a fair flat price. Do go there!!
