Lucens, where this restaurant is located, has a medieval castle including a permanent museum dedicated to Conan Doyle. The Hotel de la Gare is a gem of a restaurant, associating haute cuisine with simple fare and authentic products. The chef has chosen to make gastronmic...dishes whilst not trying to go overboard. The result are refined, well-known recipes with a particularly touch. You do not leave hungry as you sometimes do when leaving restaurants trying to go overboard. The wine liste and desserts are outstanding. Lucens is a small village in the midst of farmland, the more suprising, which also explains the choices made by the chef.
Really excellent eating with wonderful ingredients, cooking, preparation and mise-en-Platz. very attentive service. large selection of Swiss wine, where I noticed eight selections of petite arvine white wine.
We were invited for my parents for my 40-day in this restaurant. I never heard of it, so I came there without warning. when I discovered the place, it could not begin better: beautiful and great building with a beautiful terrace covered by a magnificent plan tree. chef pierrick greeted us with a large white wine chasselas in the terrace. then we went into the main room, beautifully decorated with paintings by a local artist. we had the “Menu surprise”: eating was amazing, fresh, worked up and delicious. every dish was an art piece. the great sommelier chose great weine from waadt! thank you! great choice! it was a fanatic dinner, thanks chef pierrick and her personal. we are coming back!
In the middle of nowhere lost, this is a very good place for a gastronomic dinner. pictures speak for themselves. highlights were the foie grass and the white truffle plates. service was very professional at expected level. a slight question was the champagne and white, which I think is not served at sufficiently cold temperature.
