The Black Steer - Loveland

This was our first time dining there, and we will definitely return. The food was outstanding, from the appetizers and salad to the entrees. The service was excellent, and we really appreciated the cozy atmosphere.

I had an amazing ribeye at the restaurant. The French onion soup was also one of the best I've ever tasted—perfectly balanced, not too salty, and the broth was incredibly flavorful.

This restaurant is fantastic! We celebrate our anniversary here every year. I absolutely love the salads, especially with the Chex Mix cereal as croutons. The place is very clean and the staff is friendly.

That said, there were quite a few peculiar choices that didn’t quite work for me. For instance, the dipping sauce for the calamari was an odd combination; sweet chili and calamari just didn’t pair well. The salad had rice Chex instead of croutons, which I found unappealing. I decided to give it a try, but none of us were fans of that. The presentation of the food could use improvement too, as many of the decorations and tableware felt outdated. Dishes were served on trays, which isn’t ideal. I also noticed some inconsistency in how the pepper steak was cooked—three of us ordered it and only one was cooked correctly. That said, the flavor and char on the meat were excellent. My medium-rare steak was superb. The baked potato was enjoyable, as were the butter and the sour cream with chives. One of my companions ordered the ribeye, which was cooked fairly well to order. The fries, however, could really use some seasoning since they were quite bland and didn’t enhance the meal. My child ordered the grilled cheese and fries and loved them, as well as the spaghetti. Overall, it was a decent experience, and I’m likely to return to explore more of the menu, as there seem to be several promising options to try.

This restaurant offers excellent steak along with a variety of delicious options. I've been a regular here for decades, and the quality of both the food and service has consistently remained high. We especially love the pepper steak!
