In a post-Covid world, in which buffets either (a haven't returned [at many places] or (b feel awkward, a good thali has become my go-to solution for getting a balanced variety of dishes at an Indian restaurant. And Sonal does thali better than anywhere else in town. They do it cafeteria-style, wherein the dishes are pre-prepared behind the counter, and you have the option of either picking a preset combination or building your own assortment. I did the latter, adding a couple of roti for $1 each, and couldn't have been more satisfied with my meal. For around $18+, I had plenty of food for two meals, and felt that everything was even better the second day. (Note that all items are strictly vegetarian.
Awesome selection of gluten free deliciousness. Hidden gem in an area where chain restaurants are the norm. I drive by here nearly every day but still hadn’t stopped in, partly because tend toward more of a carnivore diet (or at least omnivore , but it’s a Friday in Lent and warm vegetarian comfort food sounded great. Let me tell you, I didn’t miss meat in the slightest! So many different textures and flavors, and a variety of spice levels. The owners were super friendly and helped me pick out what would be gluten free (lots to choose from and even cooked up some gluten free bread (3 kinds! for my Thali plate. I probably ate about half of it, and am so full I may not eat again for a week. After that though, I’m sure I’ll be hitting up the drive thru now that I’ve found my favorites.
Excellent Indian food and service is beyond compare. All is vegetarian, but much is vegan. And the owner and his wife the chef are very happy to accommodate food allergies and preferences! What a nice family. You won't be disappointed and if you don't leave stuff and satisfied that will be your own fault. Look forward to coming back soon!
Thali ??Louisville is incredibly blessed to offer a dynamic potpourri, when it comes to gastronomy. And if you don't realize that, get out of your Highlands (fill in the blank) comfort zone and see what the talk is all about!Sonals is located right before Oldham county. Nestled across the Ford Plant past Springhurst. If you haven't been, you haven't lived. And if you haven't tried Indian before, what are you doing with your life?! #allingoodhumorIn my top 5 restaurants of Louisville. I may be partial because I love Indian good. Especially, Thali style. The restaurant is ALLERGEN Friendly. They offer gluten free bread instead of Roti. Among other fantastic Allergen options. Plenty of vegan dishes and they are always happy to accommodate and whip up fresh food for your dietary needs!
