Triple 8 China Grill - Los Angeles

One waiter was having to wait all the tables. We felt bad for him. He said a bunch of waiters had quit earlier that week and left them short staffed.

We ate at Triple 8 before the P!nk concert at the Staples Center. Based on reviews I read I had expected slow service but that was not our experience. At the recommendation of our waiter we got the soup dumplings, fried Brussels sprouts and beef chow fun. It is pricey for Chinese food given the portion size but we were happy with our choice. It was worth the cost due to location and convenience to Staples Center. I would come back again.

Restaurant has a B rating from food inspectors. Food was mediocre and overpriced. Service was fair; our server was very nice but was overly busy and apparently new to serving. Bar was out of both brands of bourbon we requested. Martinis were extremely small. “Craft” cocktails were very limited in scope. Wine list was short. No coffees or desserts offered other than ice cream. I don’t recommend nor will I return.

We visited Triple 8 China Bar Grill before an event at The Staples Center. Ordering a few Dim Sum items was just what we were looking for... not too heavy, yet filling. Potstickers, SuiMai and Long Bao were all very good. The service was attentive and professional. The table next to us ordered two different types of fried rice... both dishes were quite large and looked yummy. The mother-daughter at the next table said it was quite delicious. Would definitely try that next time.
