Mel's Fish Shack - Los Angeles

I always find myself looking for food reminiscent of home in South Virginia. So it was a challenge to find good south-fat fish and chickens on the west coast. My search continues as this was a big farewell. I'm often over here and the line is always a mile long. I liked the cut of fish, bread, spice, not waiting.

This is a real hidden jewel in LA! Grilled shrimps po'boy and grilled fish locks were top notch. And the hush puppies? Get in your mouth! Come back as often as I can...

Fish is always fresh and Georgette, the owner, is always there with a real smile. You can say she loves what she does and interact directly with customers. I have a shrimp allergy and she always ensures that my salmon is cooked separately. Love her salmon salad and homemade dressing! Very recommended.

From a viewpoint (from the city). Nothing had spiced. Although it smells good, it wasn't the best or the worst... only fried fish. I had fried cats and shrimps... they put the cats on the fries they both made soggy. I wouldn't come back if I were in the area.

The fish is delicious! It tastes fresh and they get the food out quickly. This is not a sit down place and parking can be difficult at the wrong times but if you order ahead you can just pick up.
