Contribuiți la feedbackMy friends and I came in for some drinks and light bites on a Friday evening and it was delicious. The service was extremely attentive and helpful, recommending the perfect drink to fit the mood (carajillo! . Would definitely go back!
Quite a spectacular experience honestly! I have never been to a restaurant that has such a wild combination of things. To the Michelin level food, agave flights and massive mezcal list, to the atmosphere in both the back patio area and general restaurant, Damian really does cover all the bases. The swordfish and salmon tostada were two of my favourite things I’ve eaten on this most recent trip to LA, and both were exquisite. To be cousin of Cosmé in NYC, this place lives up to its reputation as being one of the best restaurants on the west coast.
Came here for late brunch and made the reservations online. Upon arrival we were seated right away in the patio section which is at the back of the restaurant and it’s actually (almost fully) covered. Due to its location, sitting in the back patio you will inevitably hear some sawing or some drilling in the neighboring adjacent areas (and oddly, our table was so full of dust on arriving that we had to ask them to wipe it down). 3/5.Food was Ok, 3/5 I’ve honestly had much better in Mexico City and elsewhere in LA, so it was a bit disappointing for the price tag. We ordered a few dishes to share, and a few drinks as well: LOBSTER TOSTADA portion was small the tostada was so tough to eat it was on the verge of too thick to be crunchy and it wasn’t quite enjoyable as I’d hope CEVICHE POBLANO liked the corn, but flavors were lacking a bit and totally overshadowed again by those difficult to eat tostadas that accompanied the dish — by this time I’m really questioning what I’m doing trying to break a tooth trying to chew this finally, CHILAQUILES more flavorful as they made sure every piece of tortilla is coated with its salsa, but even adding the poached egg and overpriced slices of avocado, it had you expecting a bit more fyi, there is a spicy kick to them portion of the chilaquiles were more Expresso tiny served in a cute cup and my friend liked it Palo Santo (cucumber, yuzu) very refreshing light liked this the best Mandarine (tamarindo, heavy on the ginger) strong ginger flavor for sure liked it but in small sipsDESSERT: the Apple Gallete was absolutely delicious and the fruit on top was so heavily flavored that it truly stole the show. 5/5Parking: you can valet or find street parking may be somewhat difficult if during busy hours of the day. 3/5Restrooms: gender neutral with at least 4 individual stalls fairly clean but lighting is SO DIM. 2/5Staff servers were friendly and they don’t make a point to kick anyone out even if brunch time is over. 5/5.
The restaurant is located in the arts district, you can find street parking or pay 15 ish dollars for valet parking. The service exceptional, our server made excellent recommendations and was very familiar with the menu. Food is served family style so we ordered a few from every category. Everything that we ordered tasted fresh and flavorful. The restaurant overall has a fresh feel to it. I would suggest seating outside because it elevates the overall dining experience.
Our server Jenny was such a joy and so helpful. She explained all the dishes to us and made recommendations. Go for the duck, it was delicious. It's an entire half duck. I could've made room to eat two whole ducks because it was so delicious. Comes on cast iron pan. Holds the sizzzzllleee. We love uni but the uni tostada was not uni satisfying, we just wanted an entire tray of uni but it was more one piece on lots of greens.Drinks were just ok but not badThere is a dessert chocolate mezcal, try it, it paired well with chocolate. We also got the banana flan which was more like a crème brûlée consistency but we liked that. There was a chocolate dessert we got too but it wasn't what we expected: we expected it to be more chocolate heavy in flavors but the sorbet over powered the chocolate of that dessert.
