I visited this restaurant for a relaxed Sunday outing. The atmosphere was amazing and seating was plentiful, which is not always common in this type of establishment. They also have a full bar available.
Many patrons at the restaurant had not seen each other since the pandemic began, creating high expectations for a good time. However, this was not guaranteed.
What a great hidden spot. Ok, on the way there my wife did make a few jokes about where I was taking her, but I had faith in my friend's recommendation. That said, he had only been there once by boat and was also a bit surprised by the access. Not often in the city do you come across this kind of super industrial area. But keep going and you come to the East River waterside with a full view of the city. The food and beers were good and reasonably inexpensive by city standards. The place was well run with friendly staff that kept the bathrooms and tables clean. Smaller groups sat at picnic tables, enjoying the last sunny days of summer. As we left a group of 20 arrived which seems right for this kind of place. It can easily accommodate a larger crowd. If you're looking for an out of the way place that's still in the middle of the city with great views of Manhattan, look no further.
My friends had been talking about this place for a while. My schedule finally opened up to visit, though it was a bit cold outside, we had a great time. They had a cute selection of wines $13 and beers $8 as well as a few house cocktails $14. I went with an old favorite Stella Artois Cidre, and enjoyed the beautiful views of Manhattan from Queens. There were beautiful trees, framing the fenced in property. But there was an odd barge next door, a burnt out, shabby property that once thrived as an event hall. Despite its current condition, I enjoyed watching the ducks float along the river on a very brisk afternoon. I'll definitely return in the summer.
