The Boathouse On The Bay - Long Beach

A great restaurant with great views and really good food. Our waiter was a little forgotten to be reminded of our wine order and my Sambucca I wanted with my espresso. He was a really big guy, very weird and trying to do a good job, but seemed a little scattered. The best of the evening after a great meal with me got my double espresso served in a large coffee cup. I guess there's a first one for everything. I couldn't believe that. You don't serve espresso cups?

Whoever for my husband's birthday is usually the food very good and was also this time, but we went at 7 a.m. and they were out of bread, an hour later we had not been served, so our waiter, who was very gracious and did his best w circumstances, offered us clam chowder instead of bread, which then ruined our dinner. After we had waited for 1.5 hours and then the rich soup disappeared, we had no appetite when our food arrived. It was delicious, but the experience was ruined. I also noticed that it was my husband bday when I made the open table reservation and the host mentioned it, but we do not think that our waiter had any knowledge about it and we on Dessert to come home as it was 9 a.m. at this point.

First time at this restaurant, great food and service!!

The Hostess was very accommodating and friendly much appreciated! Our server was attentive. The food was delicious, especially the beef sliders and breakfast potatoes. Every food item meant be served hot was not even warm. We waited 20 minutes for the carving station and still the meats were room temperature. While waiting to be seated it was noted others waiting were served complimentary champagne; also, I overheard the server attending to an adjacent table comp champagne. But when I requested champagne at the end of the meal to go with dessert I was charged. The imposed 20% gratuity was not appreciated; for a buffet (i.e., self serve meal) it is excessive. Based on only cold food available the cost of the buffet was out of line.

The food was delicious, the ambiance was great and the server was good.
