It was a rip off. I would absolutely NOT recommend captain Bob’a chowder to anyone. The food was a disappointment as the chowder did not taste fresh. The halibut was over priced and the children’s meal came with no fries. We will never go back there and would not suggest that to anybody.
Great chowder with large portions of clams. Chowder is handmade with pride and it shows. Small establishment which means long wait but worth it. The sisters are delightful and friendly Parking: Plenty of parking at free museum which is next to the restaurant. Parking may not be needed because Capt bobs is centrally located near everything
We love Capt. Bob's, but this year there was a bit of disappointment: they've done away with chowder bread bowls, and replaced it with chowder inside a hallowed out baked potato. The chowder and fish and chips can't be beat and the location is great, but we were so looking forward to our usual bread bowl.
When busy, customer line has no place to really stand, except for impeding into Marsh’s Parking Lot, which is to be expected for such a small-sized establishment. Tables were clean but provided card games had a questionable amount of grime. We did not choose to use the cards, as there was no way for us to wash our hands. The food itself was good! Good clam chowder sizes for a great price. The oyster shooters were okay, and most likely won’t order them again. Service was great, and the lady taking orders was very friendly, considering the high-stress of rush-hour Parking: The parking is shared with some local street-side businesses as well as Marsh’s. The parking lot appears to be an entrance only-exit only lot, although some do the opposite. The parking lot is also crowded with foot-traffic from those visiting downtown. If this stop is one of many while you are visiting downtown, my recommendation is to park in the multiple lots along Oregon Ave S.
