Shake Shack First National Building Downtown Detroit

I tried to order three different dishes from their menu, but unfortunately, all of them were unavailable, including most of their shakes. They seriously need to think about renaming this place the Salt Shack, as the food was overwhelmingly salty, and I usually like salty flavors. This was an entirely different level of saltiness. On a positive note, the girl who took our order was incredibly polite and friendly!

I really love Shake Shack, but this location hasn't met the usual standards I'm accustomed to. I recognize that it's in a mall, but they should still be preparing the food properly. On three separate occasions, we've received messy meals, missing items, or nuggets that had hardly any breading.

This was my first visit, and it was fantastic! My burger was cooked to perfection, and the fries were fresh and crispy. I realized that my husband and I could have easily shared the fries, as there were more than enough for both of us. The lemonade was refreshing and not too sweet. My husband also enjoyed his burger and milkshake. We will definitely return the next time we’re in the area.

I have soy and gluten intolerances, so I decided to order a burger with a gluten-free bun. I opted out of cheese, as it contains soy, and requested mustard and ketchup instead of their sauce, but unfortunately, I didn't receive any condiments. The burger was served with only a small piece of lettuce—about half the size of the patty—and two slices of tomato. While the burger patty was tasty and the gluten-free bun was decent, I probably won’t go back since it felt overpriced for such a basic, dry burger. To make things worse, their custard machine was out of order, so no shakes were available.

I had a craving for an apple cider milkshake, so I decided to visit this place. However, when I attempted to pay with cash, a staff member let me know that they only accept card payments. It was quite frustrating, especially since I was only trying to buy one item.
