Contribuiți la feedbackThis used to be a great pub but under current management I won’t be going back there. I’ve been going there for nearly 20 years and it makes me sad to see how a great pub has been ruined by pretentiousness. The atmosphere is overambitious with gilded mirrors, the kind of place where no one seems to be laughing. The fact that you can’t go to the bar to fetch a drink is just ridiculous in a small place like this, the table service is unbelievably slow, and all the waiting staff are inexperienced which speaks badly of the management (clearly a lot of turnover if everyone is new). We had to ask twice for our food and this was just a side order of bread! When it did eventually arrive, the bread was so oily we didn’t want to eat it. The menu is overly pretentious and quite frankly insulting to vegetarians. There are many different style options for meat eaters, but the only main courses for vegetarians are basically sickeningly posh versions of the kind of fare we got 30 years ago: glorified boiled carrots or stuffed peppers. There’s no “proper pub food” option for vegetarians at all. There’s a meat burger, but no veggie version of it. Who goes to a pub to eat posh boiled carrots with their beer? When I pointed this out, the waitress mumbled something inaudible and walked away. Clearly my custom was not appreciated, so my friends and I left. On the plus side, it wasn’t difficult to find a table on a Saturday night, but after this experience I’m not surprised. Thankfully there are many nice pubs with decent food in the area.
Without exception the best Sunday roast I have had and I tend to have Sunday roasts at award winning pubs. I chose ghe pork option and never had anything as tasty or well cooked. Absolutely delicious
If this isn't the best pub in London, the world is mad! It always has an amazing atmosphere friendly and welcoming with really lovely staff. We visit regularly and, on our latest visit, it was a Burns Night menu which was absolutely fabulous! (Scallops were perfection! . In the winter it's cosy inside, with fires blazing, and in the summer, their beautiful outdoor space is the best. They have a great range of beers and wines and the food is always inventive and delicious. I cannot recommend The Alma highly enough.
The most gorgeous pork chop. Unbelievably good. Absolutely perfect portion size, the meat was just perfect so juicy and the crackling that came with it was delicious. Partner's steak was great too. Love this pub. Staff were friendly and attentive as always.
A really lovely pub, the staff were very welcoming and brilliant all through the night. Started in the all covered back garden area which is lovely and toasty and also had table service. Then transferred to the main pub for dinner. The dinner was delicious. The atmosphere was great, and we will definitely be returning
