We stayed here for several days and liked it very much.
Although we did not stay at this establishment, we did visit the restaurant to celebrate my birthday. My husband opted for the fish and chips, while I ordered the chicken skewers, ribs, and vegetable spring rolls, all listed as small plates for my main course. We enjoyed some red wine and a refreshing raspberry fruit soda. The food was delicious, especially the sauce on my chicken and ribs. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
I treated a friend to an Afternoon Tea as a belated 60th birthday present, but sadly, it was not quite what we had hoped for. The entrance, foyer, and corridor leading to the Tea Lounge were beautiful, but the Tea Lounge itself was rather lackluster. It felt faded and lonely, especially since there were only a few guests, including my friend and me. The large bay window by our table was also not very clean. The food was served on a three-tier platter, with the sandwiches tasting like they had been pre-made and stored in the fridge. The fillings were unexciting, although the scones and jam were enjoyable. Unfortunately, we each received different flavors of jam and had to share one small portion of clotted cream. The mini Victoria Sponge was underwhelming as well. While the £40.00 price tag at a hotel like The Clermont may seem reasonable, I left feeling disappointed. On a positive note, the staff did make an effort to celebrate my friend's milestone birthday by bringing out a mini cheesecake with a candle and singing Happy Birthday, which was a lovely touch.
Today we visited the wicked afternoon tea at 12:30 a.m. My mother tried to call several times a day before, as we had some food requirements but could not get through. we were served at 12:40. we asked the server if we could have our...sandwiches without butter and a set with just sinking. they told us that this could take a little longer than we understood. it took about 1:30 a.m. and we were not yet served our food, my mother politely asked the server how long this would take as we were at the theater at 2:30 a.m. she said that our food would last longer because my mother did not follow cream and butter, and I only eat laughs (that was actually because of allergies). they said the sandwiches were prefabricated so they took longer what we understood. we were not served with our food until 1:40pm (we had only the table for 90 minutes). we quickly had to eat our food, we are served all the salmon (I don't eat fish) and no i mayonaise or crowning huh. we reached the point where we thought we were an inconvenience, so we did not ask to take that back. we then asked if the bill and the gratitude were automatically added if we were asked that we had not paid for it. but we didn't want to make any more inconvenience than we wanted to go to the theater.
